What is NCBC-NED Telescope Live? +
NCBC-NED Telescope Live is the public-facing astronomy platform of the Computational Astrophysics & Space Science Lab at NED University, Karachi. It provides access to Pakistan's first computerised observatory, research datasets, and educational resources for astronomy enthusiasts and researchers.
How do I access the telescope or book observation time? +
You can send an inquiry via the Google Form on our website, or contact us directly at ncbc@neduet.edu.pk. Students at NED University can register for observation slots through the NCBC portal. Public events are announced on our events page.
Can I join the research lab as a student? +
Yes! NCBC offers a 1-year Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Big Data and Cloud Computing. 3rd year and Final Year students can also apply for research opportunities in computational astrophysics. Visit the Opportunities section on astro.neduet.edu.pk to learn more and become a member.
What public events do you organise? +
We regularly organise International Observe the Moon Night events, public stargazing sessions, the "Eye on the Sky" telescopic observation tours, workshops on ML/AI in astrophysics, and public talks by leading astronomers. Events are free to attend unless stated otherwise.
What is your connection with NASA and LCO? +
NCBC-NEDUET has been recognised as a Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO) Global Sky Partner for 2023, receiving 100 hours of robotic telescope time. We have also organised NASA-supported public events celebrating milestones like the Apollo mission anniversary.
